My Favorite Apple

One year ago today

I remember like it was yesterday. Late in the evening after playing tennis I got into the car and looked at my iPhone to see a screen full of messages. I knew something was wrong- the first one I saw was from my wife “Don’t know if you have heard, but Steve Jobs has died.”

I knew Steve was very sick and probably dying, but I still wasn’t prepared.

Interestingly too- all the other texts were from friends offering condolences to me over Steve’s death, as if he was my best friend or brother. I mean, I’m just a guy who is an Apple fan and while in some strange way I did idolize Steve, I guess they recognized the impact this man’s death, whom I’d never met, would have on me.

Steve Jobs was Apple. And while I still follow the company on a daily basis, things are just not the same anymore without Steve. Don’t quite know how to explain it. There’s a void their insanely great inventions don’t fill. The man behind all of it isn’t there.

RIP Steve.

I understand completely! And I feel the same way. It is just not the same.

I totally agree. Steve Jobs is Apple. I have confidence that the company will continue to fulfill Steve’s wishes, as he went through great pains to take care of everything before his passing, but despite everything, it still isn’t the same. I cannot believe that a year has already come and gone. I still feel very sad about Steve being gone, and the moment I learned of his passing has left an indelible mark in my memory. He really made a ding in the universe, and he certainly did so in my life as well. I’ve remained loyal to Apple’s computers since they came out, and I don’t really see that ever changing.
