One day it’s Apple Maps, the next it is lack of supply of the iPhone 5, then throw in the belief they have an over reliance on their existing product line, but honestly, I don’t think what it is really matters to these negative nannies- they are just waiting, hoping something will be Apple’s downfall.
As I read all the negative articles bashing Apple, I think back to Steve. We are only a year passed his death, but I can guarantee his presence is felt everyday there at One Infinite Loop. His demanding expectations still guide product innovation, design and launches, as well as everything else Apple is all about.
The takeaway is this- Steve was a dreamer. He wanted to change the world and used Apple as his vehicle to do it. Sure he loved to turn industries upside down, but doing so wasn’t the goal in and of itself, instead he wanted to create products that actually did change lives.
To think Apple is now reduced to simply producing new generations of the same ‘ol products (Mac, iPhone, iPod and iPhone) is ridiculous. Stop and think for a minute. For this to be the case, it would mean Steve saw no further than these particular products. I know he died before his time, but remember, Steve Jobs was a dreamer.
Steve dreamed of more world changing products than simply the current array of Apple products. How do I know that? He had over thirty years to dream, that’s how.
Did you know Steve dreamed up the iPad way back in 1983? He did –
What we want to do is we want to put an incredibly great computer in a book that you can carry around with you and learn how to use in 20 minutes. And we really want to do it with a radio link in it so you don’t have to hook up to anything and you’re in communication with all of these larger databases and other computers.
Steve Jobs- 1983
I am confident Apple’s future is bright and the pipeline of cool ideas and products is full of Steve’s dreams that will continue to change the world.
